Press Release

China Development Financial (CDF; TWSE:2883) is officially announcing that its 2020 Management Associate (MA) Program is now open for applications until the end of March. The Program, scheduled to begin in July, offers twenty vacancies for postgraduate degree holders of any academic background fluent in Mandarin and English. The MAs will undertake training in a tailored structure, building hands-on experience through job rotations across frontline product units and overseas assignments, while broadening their international perspective as a digital finance talent equipped for a new challenging era.

“Members of the financial industry are facing new waves of unprecedented challenges in the digital age,” said Richard Chang, CDF Spokesperson. CDF in recent years has committed to reinventing itself from its existing role of venture capital and private equity investment bank into a full-fledged financial conglomerate, extending its reach into commercial banking, securities brokerage, and life insurance. With the theme for this year’s talent acquisition being “Navigating, Boundary-Breaking and Soaring with CDF,” the Company is looking to bring together a group of young leaders of diverse academic backgrounds that are enthusiastic about new challenges. Immersed in the Program’s interdepartmental rotation training, MAs will be armed with skills to energize the Company’s growth.

The MA Program is divided into China Life Insurance, KGI Bank and KGI Securities, each offering hands-on access to in-depth knowledge and business products in coursework training, complete with interdepartmental job rotations, exclusive career mentor counselling, and internships. The structure enables MAs to participate in the development of corporate strategies, gain exposure to the organization’s culture, and quickly build up the readiness needed to take on market challenges. Applicants can visit CDF’s website, go to “Join us” at the top, and then “Management Associate Program”. Download and fill out the standardized CV and submit it with TOEIC or other English proficiency certificates via email before the March 31 deadline, with “MA Program application” as the subject. After the CV review, shortlisted applicants will be interviewed by a supervising manager jointly with HR, and will take part in a preliminary test. Qualified candidates will be invited for a final interview with top-level executives. Recruitment results will be announced in the latter half of May. The MA Program is scheduled to begin in July.

“I have gained an understanding of global financial market fluctuations thanks to an opportunity to work in the trading room. I’ve learned a lot from my peers and supervisors, who are more than happy to share their experience and offer advice on how to solve problems,” said Shawn Hsu, a 2019 MA now serving at KGI Bank’s Global Markets Division. “After joining the MA Program, department heads engaged in long conversations with us to help us see clearly how we can best contribute to the organization. During our year-long rotation, HR kept in touch with the heads of departments to make sure MAs are working in areas that best suit their background. Because of their effort, we were able to greatly improve networking across business units and learn a great deal about workflow throughout the organization,” said Steven Chang, a 2019 MA at KGI Securities’ Department of Equity Derivatives. Hao-Wei Ching, a China Life MA, said, “Your engagement always leaves a footprint, and is always acknowledged here. In the rotation process, MAs are given the opportunities to put their ideas into action, in addition to the periodic mentorship meetings with the President and opportunities to participate in core cross-divisional projects. The China Life MA Program is highly recommended as a fantastic way to launch your career.”

In addition to the MA Program, China Life and KGI Securities also offer intern programs to help students start building their career and network ahead of time. Intern opportunities offered by KGI Securities span across financial derivatives, R&D of trading strategies, risk management project implementation, and more. Students applying to intern at China Life may be assigned to a variety of domains, including actuarial disciplines, product development, and digital applications, depending on the applicant’s major in school and the interview assessment.
