CDF reaches out to students in need with tutoring scholarship program

The COVID-19 pandemic has made schools adapt to online learning in order to maintain education delivery. China Development Foundation under China Development Financial Holding Corporation (CDF)’s "Heritage 100 x Tutoring 100" Program has supported under privileged students for years. This time, the program will commit NT$5 million as scholarship aid to provide financial assistance and volunteering experiences to 100 college students in Taiwan. The application deadline is at the end of May.

Miss Yu-Jen Chang, an art studies major graduate student at National Cheng Kung University, has been the scholarship recipient of the "Heritage 100 x Tutoring 100" Program for two year. With her talent in music, Miss Chang tutored six primary school students and taught them to play Chinese flute. In addition to the finical aid for her education, the volunteering and learning experiences provided by the program is also very fulfilling and valuable, said Chang. A teacher at the primary school also shared that a kid who used to be quiet and introvert became outgoing after the tutoring sessions with Chang. Chang’s patience and love have changed the kids’ attitude, making her an exemplary volunteer.

China Development Foundation "Heritage 100 x Tutoring 100" Program has been launched for 15 years, 1,500 people has joined as tutoring volunteers over the years, and the total grants has reached NT$75 million. China Development Foundation hopes to encourage more college students to contribute volunteering experience and support more kids in need via the program.
