China Development Financial Holdings (hereinafter referred to as "CDF") continues with its commitment towards net zero carbon emissions by 2045, carrying out carbon reduction transformation in line with international sustainability trends. In 2022, CDF was recognized by CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) for the first time as an A-score leader for its efforts in climate actions, marking CDF as a world-class sustainable enterprise.
CDP, a leading organization in climate field evaluation, gives ratings and scores based on the climate performance of individual companies. While Nearly 15,000 companies participated in the 2022 evaluation, only 294 organizations made the 2022 Climate Change A List and CDF is one of the few financial institutions that has been affirmed. CDP indicated that an A score company must show environmental leadership and demonstrate best practice in climate strategy and action, while also undertake actions such as setting science-based targets and creating a climate transition plan.
CDF joined SBTi in 2022 in order to follow a scientific process to implement a carbon reduction plan while adapting its finance business. In addition, CDF regularly disclose its carbon reduction progress. It has published the first "Climate-related Financial Disclosure TCFD Report" last year. CDF plans to integrate local data with international net-zero standards, introducing climate goals into business processes, and to actively implement climate information assessment and decision-making for investment and financing.
In addition to being awarded the highest-grade A by CDP, CDF has also been recognized by international sustainability index and awards, including being included into the DJSI Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World) and the Emerging Markets (DJSI Emerging Markets) index for three consecutive years. CDF has also been recognized as the top 5% of the industry in the DJSI 2023 Sustainability Yearbook, and has been selected as a constituent stock of the FTSE Sustainability Index series for six consecutive years.
