Press Release
CDIB Capital Innovation Accelerator (hereinafter Innovation Accelerator) is a venture capital platform dedicated to helping new entrepreneurs and actively cooperates with all walks of life. In order to expand the level of cooperation and make the entrepreneurial community more complete, Innovation Accelerator and National Taiwan University Taidah Entrepreneurship Center (hereinafter NTUTEC) jointly organize entrepreneurial activities and match-up events, regularly coach start-up teams, and assist these teams in acquiring funds. The four major areas of investment for Innovation Accelerator are internet of things (IoT), mobile internet, the cloud, and next-generation e-commerce, which echo the emphasis NTUTEC will place on healthcare and IoT start-up teams in the next phase. Down the road, the two parties will join hands in assisting start-up teams to make the innovation and start-up realm a better place.

To help new start-up teams learn about entrepreneurial tips, the “Alumni Dinner – How to Successfully Raise Venture Capital Funds” forum was jointly organized by NTUTEC and Innovation Accelerator, and it attracted hundreds of participants. At the forum, Mr. Chen Ting-Kuan, CEO of Taiwan’s largest real-time entertainment booking app, FunNow, which has been invested in by Innovation Accelerator, and Mr. Xie Yun-Xiang, the investment manager of Innovation Accelerator, shared their entrepreneurial and investment experiences from the perspectives of the invested and the investor.

Nan Yi-Chun, Executive Vice President of CDIB Capital, said that in addition to becoming a long-term partner with NTCTEC, CDF has established relevant financial courses at both the National Taiwan University and the National Chengchi University and provided numerous investment communities with mentors, whose roles are to help start-up teams find operable modes of business. CDF now further provides funds to start-up teams with development potential. Nan Yi-Jun points out that this is how it’s done when it comes to fulfilling corporate social responsibility.

Vincent Tseng, CEO of NTUTEC, pointed out that in the past, corporate mentors were ushered in to facilitate the connection between start-ups and the industry. Nowadays, its cooperation with Innovation Accelerator works by ushering in capital, with NTU student identity no longer a requirement. NTU started offering an entrepreneurship curriculum and constructed a complete entrepreneurship ecosystem of education, cultivation and counseling ten years ago, aiming to create Taiwanese start-up teams that can make strides into the market.

Innovation Accelerator can observe industrial trends and even investment opportunities in this start-up community. Innovation Accelerator President Ryan Kuo believes that for enterprises, there are indeed investment opportunities to be found in the ideas of younger generations. Take Greenvines, which Innovation Accelerator has invested in, for example. It started out selling bean sprouts and gradually entered the markets of living goods and e-commerce. The transition period was when venture capital, like Innovation Accelorator, invested in the company. The way Innovation Accelerator accompanies student-entrepreneurs to start new businesses is proof that enterprises giving back to society can lead to win-win situations.
