China Development Foundation’s Vocational Skills Scholarship has been launched for five years, along the way it offers support for economically-disadvantaged students with excellent vocational skills in high schools and colleges to realize their dreams. Over the years, we have awarded NT$5mn in scholarships to 380 students from various fields, such as craftsmanship, sports, art, and music for them to pursue greater achievement.

From the "The Little Flying Elephant in Our Class" to the "Vocational Skills Scholarship", in a spirit of fulfilling social responsibility, China Development Foundation supports the cause of diverse personal development. Since its establishment in 2017, the Vocational Skills Scholarship has incessantly helped gifted high school and college students from underprivileged families to realize their dreams. China Development Financial (CDF) has long dedicated itself to charity work via China Development Foundation, channeling resources for remote area education and cultural talents cultivation, so that people with potential don’t go unnoticed.

CDF organized a series of "Technical Workshops" where students who had received support acted as instructors for one day and shared their professional skills with CDF staff. This not only demonstrates the result of CDF’s effort in talent cultivation, but also allows CDF staff to better know the educational support projects of the Foundation. Through the exchange and interaction, CDF employees were able to fully experience the professionalism of the students, as a result, employees would become more supportive of the company's philosophy of and dedication to corporate social responsibility.

One of the most common health problems faced by workers in the financial industry is the discomfort caused by prolonged sitting. For two consecutive years,  Li-chien Chang, a student who received the scholarship for her taekwondo skills, designed stretching exercises to help office workers relax. After the stretching exercises, colleagues who usually lack exercise at work said that they felt more motivated. Chang, a former member of the national taekwondo team, is currently studying at the Graduate Institute of Sports and Science of National Changhua University of Education. She said that the workshop not only helped accumulate her teaching experience, but was also inspiring for her future career that she has begun to think about how she can build her future outside of taekwondo competitions.

Meanwhile on the less physically-demanding side, we have Pan, a graduate school student specializing in museology and antique preservation. She was able to realize her dream of taking an internship at a German museum as a recipient of the Foundation’s scholarship. At CDF, she taught the staff the hand-sewing technique for binding books with thread. She specialized in antique bookbinding, but for the first time she was there on the podium providing instructions. It was a new experience and achievement for both Pan and CDF staff.

Diversity in personal development has always been at the center of the educational philosophy of CDF, and Vocational Skills Scholarship is meant to enable young people to fulfill their dreams. Between now and December 31, 2021, applications are welcome. For information, please refer to the Foundation's website at http://www.cdibf.org/.
