Press Release

China Development Financial celebrated its establishment 60 years ago. On March 12th, President Alan Wang personally led ten colleagues from the Group to form a volunteer team, and went to Nantou to celebrate the birth of Wenshan Elementary School, which was also sixty years ago. This public-welfare party not only marked the beginning of the celebratory events for the 60th anniversary of CDF, but also highlighted how Alan Wang was willing to set an example of fulfilling corporate social responsibility.

This event was a 'lunch appointment', which have been implemented by CDF for several years. It is organized by a team of colleagues, who go to a small school in the remote countryside to hold a luncheon for the children. This time around, the luncheon coincided with the 60th anniversary of Wenshan Elementary School in Nantou. Alan Wang, as the leader of the volunteer group, asked accompanying staff to make things happen for kids who had listed their favorite foods. At the event, there was not only a six-layer cupcake tower created by CDF staff, but also beef rolls, fried shrimp cakes, pasta and ice cream. At noon on the 12th, when the children of Wenshan Elementary School saw the lunch food, all they could do was woo and wow. The usual plain lunch on limited funds on weekdays had turned into a surprise party.

This special 'lunch date' smelled strongly of happiness. Alan Wang said 'It is destiny that two 60-year-old units can spend their birthdays together.' When giving the speech, he encouraged the children to be generous and kind and willing to help others, just like CDF, when they grow up. CDF colleagues, including six high-level executives and four MAs, changed into chef costumes to prepare a banquet for a hundred people, using their rusty culinary skills and simple kitchen equipment at the elementary school.

The Nantou Wenshan Elementary School has long faced the predicament of insufficient lunch funding and is among schools receiving subsidies from China Development Foundation’s Nutrition 100 Program. Principal Deng Xiou-Zhen said that schools like Wenshan, which are either in the mountains or urban area, are easily ignored. To welcome CDF, the principal led more than 60 students in the school to arrange the activity center in CDF colors, with words saying “China Development Financial and Wenshan Elementary School 60 HAPPY Lunch Appointment' written on the blackboard. When sharing lunch with the CDF volunteer team, each child at the table personally expressed his or her gratitude to CDF. The principal emphasized how rare the opportunity was for CDF and Wenshan to share lunch and celebrate their birthdays, and the entire activity was very educational.
