Press Release

Launched as a continuation of CDIB Capital’s successful balance sheet investment strategy since 2006, the CDIB Capital Global Opportunities Fund L.P (“the Fund”) is pleased to announce a strong first close with US$116 million of committed capital, receiving solid backing from seven Taiwanese life insurance institutions. The Fund has a flexible mandate across instruments. Within the mandate, the Fund evaluates investments across a wide range of development stages, industries and geographical focus (primarily in North America as well as Asia-Pacific) to gravitate toward the most attractive return profiles on diversified risk. The Fund has launched the first round of engagement in the promising compliance sector and 5G telecom service market in North America.

The Global Opportunities Fund focuses on compelling themes to capture market inefficiencies, category leaders in niche markets, and special situation investment opportunities with well structured, asymmetric return profiles. The Fund is managed by Lionel de Saint-Exupéry, Chairman and CEO of CDIB Capital, and Pietro Cinquegrana, Managing Director of CDIB Capital International (New York).

“We are excited to receive the recognition and support from blue-chip financial institutions, who understand and value the tailored opportunistic strategy and risk-adjusted returns we are able to offer. We believe in the nimble and flexible value proposition of the Global Opportunities Fund, especially in anticipation of potentially challenging times ahead”, said Mr. Lionel de Saint-Exupéry, who views the Fund as being well positioned to execute on this strategy, leveraging the full breadth of networks and resources of CDIB Capital and the CDF platform. Mr. Pietro Cinquegrana added, “We believe the Fund’s flexible and opportunistic approach will allow us to gravitate toward the most attractive investments from a risk-adjusted standpoint. We see the ability to invest across the capital structure and geographies, different corporate stages and investment types, as a key advantage for our investors. We hope to be able to capitalize on the Fund’s broad opportunity set across economic cycles and private markets conditions.”

The Fund has tapped into the enterprise compliance and 5G telecom markets in North America. The investment decisions are made on grounds that North America is the most developed market in terms of corporate governance, risk management and compliance, and demand for compliance consultation is growing as the U.S. tightens supervision on all industries. In addition, global corporate governance risk and compliance markets are growing steadily. 5G telecom standards will proliferate in 2019 to lead the digital world towards growth and transformation. According to Research and Markets estimates, the global 5G market is expected to reach US$251 billion by 2025, exhibiting a 97% CAGR during 2020-25.
