Press Release

2018 marked the fourth straight year of China Development Financial Holding (CDF) sponsoring the Lan Yang International Double Bass Summer Camp, an event arranged by the Lan-Yang Cultural and Educational Foundation and comparable to the double bass music camps of prestigious academies in the US and Europe in terms of the faculty. The summer camp gives music students in Taiwan an opportunity to get up-close-and-personal instructions from world-class double bassists. Unlike previous years, an exclusive and intensive workshop conducted by Mr. Fu Yung-Ho, the Art Director of the Lan Yang music camp and Principal Double Bassist of the National Symphony Orchestra (NSO), was open to CDF employees. At the end of the workshop, the selected CDF employees gave a flash mob performance together with NSO musicians at the company headquarters.

China Development Foundation said the CDF employees participating in the flash mob performance were all rookies. However, following the tutoring and training from Mr. Fu, employees were able to deliver successful performance with professional NSO double bassists.

China Development Foundation has been dedicated to the promotion of art events with the aim to facilitate education and development of art and creativity in Taiwan. It has not only become the primary sponsor of the Lan Yang music camp, but has also been the sponsor of the Taiwan International Festival of Arts (TIFA), hosted by the National Theater and Concert Hall, for two straight years, and the Kuandu Arts Festival of the Taipei National University of the Arts.

To make art events more accessible to the public, the Foundation joined the Open House project initiative of the National Taichung Theater in 2017, and has since invited 766 students and teachers of 21 schools from remote areas in central and southern Taiwan to watch various art performances, including the Cloud Gate’s “Formosa”, Children’s Taiwanese Opera, “The Little Deputy of Sun Dynasty 2”, Landestheater Linz’s “The Little Mermaid”, Ballett am Rhein’s Düsseldorf Duisburg 7, and Boy Blue’s “Blak Whyte Gray”.

In addition to sponsoring students from remote areas to appreciate international art events, the Foundation organized a summer camp of art administration in collaboration with the National Taichung Theater for students who aspire to pursue a career in performance art to learn first-hand from professionals.

More than 30,000 people benefitted from the art talent development programs of the China Development Foundation in 2018. Backed by the four growth engines of life insurance, banking, securities and venture capital, CDF has been able to fulfill its corporate social responsibility by engaging in public-service education, community investment, employee participation and art talent development through the China Development Foundation in recent years.
