Press Release

China Development Financial (hereinafter CDF) announces that in the ten years since 2009, China Development Foundation (hereinafter the Foundation) has supported a project called “The Flying Elephant in Our Class: Little Talents with Big Futures,” which funds the development of disadvantaged junior-high school and elementary school students, helping them realize their potential. So far over one hundred applications have been accepted. This July, during summer vacation, CDF employees from China Life, KGI Bank, KGI Securities, and CDIB Capital brought their families to participate in Little Flying Elephant Project activities. The CDF basketball team took advantage of the occasion to show a few of their moves.

The Foundation notes that the Little Flying Elephant Project is meant to help kids from disadvantaged families discover their talents and passions. This year, the summer camp was led by the head coach of Yilan’s Guangfu Elementary School basketball team, Mr. Liang Jia-ming, who was assisted by the elementary school team and five graduates to tailor-make an experience for the children of CDF employees.

Mr. Liang Jia-ming has been a basketball coach for twenty years, having fostered many young talents along the way. Gao Guo-hao, touted as the best high-school basketball player they’ve ever seen, was accepted by the Little Flying Elephant project in 2010 via the introduction of Mr. Liang. Gao went on to play impressively in local basketball tournaments and then became the fourth Taiwanese player ever to play in NCAA Division I games in the US.

“CDF holds annual summer camp to increase employees’ ESG engagement such as raising awareness of the Little Flying Elephant project and encourages them to join sports activities,” said Guo Da-hwa, leader of CDF basketball team and Vice President of KGI Securities. Guo also talked to the young participants that whatever line of work they choose when they grow up, exercising is a habit worth investing as it helps them work more efficiently.

CDF’s Little Flying Elephant Project targets at a large variety of talents, including such activities as music, dance, sports, and arts. The annual summer camp has been well-received by CDF employees. This year saw passionate participation by employees and their families from China Life, KGI Bank, KGI Securities and CDIB Capital. This shows that CDF employees are willing to come together in support of CDF charity efforts.
