Press Release

China Development Industrial Bank Foundation organized a two-day summer camp in August, inviting primary school badminton players in southern Taiwan, who had been long cultivated by the foundation, to be assistant coaches for CDF staff’s children and to stay overnight together in a museum, enabling them to have a unique experience.

Coach Chen of Kaohsiung Municipal Gushan Elementary School’s badminton team kicked off the activities by demonstrating various techniques, such as how to serve and perform a forehand stroke. Then the assistant coaches helped the 32 camp students, who had never played badminton, practice basic moves. In less than half a day, all of the students were able to use their badminton rackets correctly. The assistant coaches also held an exhibition match to display their skills. After a full-day of instruction and practice, the camp students were organized into teams to compete with each other, and they all strived to win.

After the badminton activities ended, all of the camp students and assistant coaches rode the Taipei Metro to the National Taiwan Museum. They visited the ecological hall in the museum and showed much interest in learning about Taiwan’s ecological systems in various time periods. They stayed overnight in the museum, the first time a group has ever done so, and chatted about what they had learned during the day and about many other topics in their daily lives.

The summer camp provided abundant joy and knowledge for all participants. More importantly, it inspired the assistant coaches to pursue their dreams in badminton, and it taught CDF staff’s children new skills to explore their potential, boosting CDF support of public welfare.
